Downtown Welcomes Pop UP Winner: Grand Opening for Appli-K’s!
On Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m., Downtown will officially welcome its newest retail store to Suite 900, Red River District @ 450 Clyde Fant Parkway. The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting will kick off a day of fun in the District complete with live music, food trucks, stilt walkers and bounce houses for the kids.
Appli-K’s –and owner Katy Rhodes- are a unique story. Appli-Ks was one of the 34 small businesses that applied to-and were chosen for- one of Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation’s (DSDC) four downtown Pop UP retail activation projects during 2014.
Katy’s great products, customer service and business growth made her a natural to receive the Committee of One Hundred’s free one-year rental grant. This grant has allowed Katy to do what she knew she needed to do; move her growing business out of her house and into a retail downtown storefront.
It has been a whirlwind of activity ever since. Suite 900 in the Red River District is now distinctly Appli-K’s- the space shows off the amazing variety of work she can perform; everything from custom sewing to embroidery, appliques—all manner of unique and customer-centered customization options.
